Northwest Indiana receives a wide array of weather, including snow and ice. Our crew work tirelessly to ensure our roads are plowed and salted. Please refer to the “Snow Removal Regulations” document for rules regarding vehicles, trailers, and equipment in the street during a snow event, as well as the laws for removing snow from your private property onto any public street or roadway (including information regarding fines and penalties for doing so).
Mailboxes
Please do an inspection of your mailbox to ensure that it is properly installed, and the post is in good condition. The City is not responsible for damage to your mailbox or post as a result of rolling snow from the plow blade, thus will not repair or replace mailboxes or posts claiming to be damaged. Please see the “Mailbox Policy” for details on proper installation of your mailbox.
