Yard Waste Removal

The Crown Point Street Department handles the majority of  yard waste removal. Please see below for information and tips on waste removal.

  • Brush and leaves should be separate.
  • Both brush and leaves should be free from any other debris, trash, rocks, sticks, etc.
  • If you are placing bushes out for brush pick-up, please ensure the root ball is removed. If brush has a root ball attached, it will not be picked up by the chipper. Please separate the root ball, which will be picked up by a separate truck.
  • Please stack brush with cut ends facing the same direction.
  • If a service is hired to do tree work, the service is responsible for removal of the brush.
  • Piles of brush and/or leaves should be in the parkway within 6 feet of the curb. Please do not place yard debris in the street.
  • Piles should be placed in the parkway so there are no obstructions. Obstructions can include vehicles, mailboxes, guide wires, utility poles, trees, etc.
  • Garden waste should be separated from brush and leaves.
  • It is not necessary to call the Street Department when yard waste is at the curb. The Street Department has a regular route it follows through the city and will pick up yard waste when they are in your area.
  • Spring leaf pick-up will begin the first week of April, weather permitting, and will continue throughout the month, weather permitting
  • Fall leaf pick-up will begin the first week of October, weather permitting, and will continue until the first snowfall.
