Project Lifesavers

"Bringing Loved Ones Home"

project lifesaver

How Project Lifesaver Works:

The program relies on proven technology and a specially trained search & rescue team. Lifesaver clients wear a wristband that emits a silent tracking signal. When caregivers call 9-1-1 and report a loved one missing, a search & rescue team responds to the area and starts searching with state-of-the-art tracking equipment. Using this technology, search times have been reduced from hours and days to within minutes. In over 1,800 searches nationwide, there have been no reported serious injuries or deaths, and recoveries average less than 30 minutes.

Project Lifesaver in Crown Point:

Started in 2008 following the tragic death of an Alzheimer's patient who walked away from a care facility. Currently, all Crown Point Firefighters are trained as Electronic Search Specialists.

How Much Does Project Lifesaver Cost?

Thanks to a grant from St. Anthony Medical Center, the $300 transmitters are provided at no cost, and only $10 monthly maintenance fee.
